Monica is 20 and has been saved for several years but never baptized. Leah, a teen girl, was recently saved at church. Both girls filled out a detailed lesson on baptism and were interviewed by the deacons. The third girl, Daniella, is 8 years old but clearly understands salvation and the meaning of baptism. Continue to pray that more born-again church attendees will join the church and get involved.

Baptism - Sunday Nov. 5, 2006

Our broken sign board

Early on Sunday morning, Nov. 5th, there was a terrible head-on collision with an oil tanker and a small bread truck. As far as we know, everyone died. Paul has posted the accident picture on his blog. It is always a sobering reminder to us of the brevity of life and how we need to use every day God gives us to share the gospel. The wreckage of the accident was in the middle of the Mombasa road, directly in front of our mission property. So two lanes of traffic at a time were diverted to our side of the road to get past it. One large truck evidently hit our sign. It is a $300.00 sign! Fortunately Joel just finished fixing a portable welder on Friday and used that to fix it up today. Praise the Lord! Thanks again Steve Branning for the gift of this very useful welder.

Ladies Missionary Retreat

On Oct. 27 & 28th, the Ind. Baptist missionary ladies had a retreat in Karen, just outside of Nairobi. We met at a nice conference center. Angela Madory organized the retreat and Christina Fulmer helped her with speaking. Several of the missionaries who live outside of Nairobi were able to come. They said they long for this kind of fellowship as loneliness is one of their biggest battles. We are planning now to have at least one retreat a year, possibly two. The theme of the retreat was "If the shoe fits". It was a great time of food, fun and instruction.

Our sign

Ladies' Retreat

Emmanuel Baptist Church - October 22nd

Yesterday we had our best church attendance yet. This was so encouraging. Let me share a couple of praises. We've had a Kenyan family attending for several weeks who just moved up from Mombasa. Yesterday Joel asked them what their jobs were. The man said that he is charge of the container depot in Nairobi. It "just so happens" that our crate is arriving this week at that very depot for clearance. This man said if we have any problem with anything, to let him know. Surely God is good! A young lady got saved a couple weeks ago at church and yesterday I went over the "Assurance of salvation" booklet she filled out. She and a couple of other regular attendees will be getting baptized in a couple of weeks. Praise the Lord!

Team Visit

<img style="CLEAR: both; We had only lived here at the Camp Lukenya property for one month before we left for the 4-months Stateside. So now we are really enjoying settling into our new home. I now have the privilege of taking daily walks on our 100 acres. I usually take one of our dogs named Brummy along to alert me of any snakes on the path. The last two early mornings I have seen giraffe on the lower end of the property. I can get quite close to them & they just stare at me with their long beautiful eyelashes! Joel & I also visited our retired American friends who live on the 20,000 acre game ranch that borders our property. They have 4 lions in huge cages and a leopard. We had the privilege of going with them to feed them the other evening. Now that's something to see! One annoying thing we deal with now is the "tick season." We have tiny ticks, some as tiny as a pinhead, that like to crawl up your feet and legs when you go outside. We are constantly picking them off, sometimes not successfully! Anyhow, this season will soon be over.
I will be posting pictures over the next few days of our grandchildren & other pictures from our time in the States. I'm looking forward to sharing some of our Kenyan adventures with you.

The Nenana River.
